Player Information - General

Player Info

Welcome to the upcoming soccer season!  We look forward to working with your player this season. We are focused on providing a means for your child to develop skills, including social, sport and team that will enhance their enjoyment of the game of soccer.  Each player who registers on time will be placed on a Westside team.  Past team placements will not dictate or ensure your current season placement.  Late registrants will be placed where possible.

 Required Equipment

All players for the 2021 Outdoor season will be supplied with black socks and a jersey.  You will need to supply black shorts, shin pads and cleats.  These kits can be kept by the player at the end of the season.

In the event of cold weather: Practices, wear warm clothes; Games, a shirt &/or leggings may be worn under the jersey and shorts.

In order to prevent injuries jewellery cannot be worn during the game. This means that ears should not be pierced during or immediately prior to the season as the earrings will have to be removed before the game as it is no longer acceptable to tape earrings - as per FIFA rules.

New to soccer?

Here is a guide for parents that has quite a bit of information for those that are new to the game of soccer in general.

League Format - WILL Be Different for 2021

The U6-U12 age groups play in a variety of small sided Mini games (3 a side up to 8 a side) depending on their age. U6 - U12 do not have official game results or standings in order to put more emphasis on fun and learning. The U14 and up (U14-U18) age groups report their scores to COYSA and if they qualify will play in the Kelowna Cup in the fall.

The U6 program meets every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. at the same Westside location (TBD).  Your season ends at the end of June.

The U7+ age groups play in the Central Okanagan area, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. 2021 may see games played only in West Kelowna - we will advise as soon as we know.

DIVISIONAL PLAY U14 - U18

U14 - U18

The U14 and higher groups are organized into combined years. U14 includes those turning 13 or 14 in the year of play.  U16 includes those turning 15 and 16. U18 includes those turning 17 or 18 in the playing year.

These age groups play 11 a side soccer on a full field.

What is COYSA

COYSA is the Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association. It is the coordinating body for the 6 clubs in the Kelowna area (Westside, Mission, Kelowna, Rutland, Lake Country and Kelowna United). http://www.centraloksoccer.com
